Second Wind | Special Film Screening | Edmonton is a special screening of the Ukrainian documentary film Second Wind, which will take place on Friday, May 8, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. at the Muttart Theatre (Stanley Milner Library) in Edmonton. The event is presented by KAZKA ENTERTAINMENT as part of the film’s Canadian tour of special screenings.
The film Second Wind tells the story of five Ukrainian heroes: four soldiers with prosthetic lower limbs and a wounded female soldier who set out to conquer Mount Kilimanjaro. This documentary explores the power of the human spirit, recovery from severe injuries, coming to terms with the trauma of war, brotherhood, and the human capacity to find new strength and a new purpose even after the most difficult trials.
The screening in Edmonton is not only an opportunity to see a powerful Ukrainian documentary on the big screen, but also a chance to hear the voices of the people behind this project. Following the screening, a Q&A session is planned with co-producer Oleksandr Pedan and the film’s protagonist, Vladyslav “Shatey” Shatil. The tour organizers note that the Canadian tour dates were moved to May specifically to allow for a personal meeting with the film’s protagonist and live interaction with the audience.
The event’s charitable purpose gives it special significance. According to the Canada-Ukraine Foundation, the Canadian screenings of Second Wind have a charitable purpose, and proceeds from ticket sales and special charity auctions will go toward supporting the rehabilitation of Ukrainian veterans. The film’s website also notes that all proceeds from the distribution of the documentary will be used to fund rehabilitation programs for people with amputations in Ukraine.
In short, Second Wind | Special Film Screening | Edmonton is an event that combines cinema, live interaction, and charitable support. It is an evening about resilience, human endurance, and a new lease on life after war, offering not only the chance to see an important Ukrainian film but also to contribute to real-world support for those on the path from trauma to recovery.
