The Ukrainian community in Edmonton will have the opportunity to meet Vitaliy Portnikov—one of Ukraine’s most renowned journalists, columnists, and political commentators, a member of Ukrainian PEN, and a recipient of the 2023 Taras Shevchenko National Prize of Ukraine. For many years, he has been analyzing issues related to Ukrainian statehood, the war, international politics, Ukrainian-Russian relations, and geopolitical processes in Europe and around the world.
This evening is not just a lecture, but an open conversation with the community, during which participants will be able to hear expert analysis of current events, ask their own questions, and take part in a discussion about Ukraine’s future.
Topics of the Meeting
The following topics will be discussed during the event:
- Ukraine’s future and possible scenarios;
- the course of the war and prospects for achieving a just peace;
- the role of the U.S., Canada, and European allies;
- the Ukrainian diaspora’s contribution to supporting Ukraine;
- the future of the Ukrainian state after the war ends.
Charitable Purpose
This is a charity event. All proceeds from ticket sales and charitable donations will go toward supporting prosthetics and rehabilitation programs for Ukrainian soldiers who were wounded while defending Ukraine.
